Perhaps England’s most prestigious vertical woollen mill, Hainsworth has been responsible for weaving the look of iconic England ever since the company was established in 1783. Many of the famous images that have been used across the world to celebrate Great Britain are made unforgettable through the use of Hainsworth cloth.

We are perhaps best known for our iconic scarlet ceremonial cloth, but this is only a small part of what we produce. We also make cloth for protective clothing worn by firefighters, for first class cabins on aeroplanes, for snooker and pool tables, for fashion designers, for the keys on grand pianos, for luxury blankets and even for natural woollen coffins. This diverse mix of products is part of the reason for our longevity, combined with our passionate belief in the future of the UK textile industry.

We started out as a family business and continue to be a family business, both in our ownership model and our commitment to look after each other, our customers and the community we are part of. We invest in our 215 team members to support their professional growth and wellbeing, and we work together to make Hainsworth feel like a place where people belong.
